The most disadvantageous part of lead-acid batteries is that they are too heavy and have low energy. . At present, whether from the perspective of cost or technical performance, it can compete with lead-acid batteries on a large scale. At present, lithium batteries should be the main ones. Therefore, lithium batteries for electric vehicles have developed vigorously in recent years.

 

From the data point of view, Kirk mentioned that 20% of the more than 40 million light-duty electric vehicles sold in my country in 2021 are already equipped with lithium-ion batteries, "In less than 10 years, the market share of lithium batteries has increased. 10 times". However, at the same time, the current pain point in this industry is actually security, which is a huge challenge we are currently facing.

 

"Keneng New Energy has been established for more than two years. At the beginning of its establishment, we were also thinking about what kind of technical route should be adopted. At present, the technical route in the industry includes ternary batteries, lithium iron phosphate, lithium manganate, and outer shell. There are soft, hard, square, and round shapes. In the end, we chose soft-packed pure lithium manganate without ternary pure lithium manganate." Kirk said.

 

What does the lithium electrification of the electric vehicle industry have to do with the national carbon neutrality goal? Kirk posed the question. He pointed out that lithium electrification of electric vehicles is mainly about light weight, and Keneng's engineers have done an experiment: 20 kilograms of light weight can save 8.5 billion kWh of energy for China's two-wheeled vehicle industry every year. This data is very exciting, indicating that the electric vehicle industry has made a huge contribution to low carbonization, energy conservation and emission reduction, and green travel.
